All you need to know Before you embark on an international trip, be sure your COVID-19 vaccinations are up to date. Before you depart, research the COVID-19 situation and travel regulations at your location. Each nation may have its own requirements for entering and leaving. Consider getting a viral test done as close to the time of departure as feasible (no more than 3 days before travel) before getting on a plane to the United States to check for any present infections. In enclosed spaces of public transportation (including airplanes) and in enclosed regions of U.S. transportation hubs, it is advised to wear a mask covering your nose and mouth (including airports). Plan ahead, and make sure to: Verify the COVID-19 condition at your destination. Traveling by air, land, or sea, you must adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by transportation providers (such as airlines, cruise lines, and buses) as well as any regulations in effect at your destination, including those pertaining to the wearing of masks, obtaining proof of immunization, testing, or quarantine. There may be variations from U.S. regulations. You can be denied entrance and forced to return to the United States if you don't adhere to the rules of your destination. Even if you are up to date on your COVID-19 vaccinations, you might not be completely protected if you have a medical condition or are taking medication that lowers your immune system. Before travelling, discuss your risk with your healthcare physician and think about postponing travel to places where Avoid travelling if... Even if you have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days or have received all of your COVID-19 vaccinations, you may still be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. You were found to have COVID-19. ◆ If you have no symptoms, wait until 10 full days following the onset of your symptoms or the date your positive test was taken before you leave. You are awaiting the COVID-19 test's results. ◆ You will need to isolate yourself and put off your return until it is safe for you to travel if your test results come back positive while you are already at your destination. You might need to isolate your travelling partners. It is advised that you quarantine since you had close contact with a person who had COVID-19. ◆ Wait a full 5 days before leaving the area where you last had close contact with someone who has COVID-19. It is preferable to stay home for ten full days following your last exposure. ◆ Get tested at least five days after your last close contact if you must travel between days 6 and 10 after your last exposure. Before you travel, make sure your test is negative and you are still symptom-free. If you choose not to get tested, postpone travel for at least 10 days following your last close encounter with a COVID-19 carrier. ◆ Wear a mask when you are among people properly and during the entire time you are travelling during the day. If you were in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 but it was not advised that you go into quarantine... ◆ Five days or more after your last close touch, get tested. Before you travel, make sure your test is negative and you are still symptom-free. ◆ You DO NOT need to get tested if you have had COVID-19 verified within the last 90 days, but you should still abide by all other recommendations (including getting tested if you develop COVID-19 symptoms). ◆ If you travel in the first 10 days following your previous exposure, make sure to wear a mask whenever you are near people for the entire trip. Traveling during the 10 days is not advised if you are unable to wear a mask. Protect Yourself and Others When Traveling ◆ In enclosed areas of public transportation (such as buses, trains, planes, and ferries) and transportation hubs (such as airports, stations, and seaports), everyone over the age of two should wear a properly fitted mask or respirator, especially in crowded or poorly ventilated areas like airport jetways. ◆ If a traveller or a member of their household has a compromised immune system or is more susceptible to serious illness, they should wear a well-fitting mask in indoor public spaces if they are 2 years of age or older and are in a location where COVID-19 levels are high. ◆ Some masks and respirators provide greater amounts of protection than others, and some may also be more uncomfortable or difficult to wear continuously. Use a mask that fits well, is as protective as it can be, and that you will use regularly while travelling. ◆ If you or someone you live with has a compromised immune system or is more susceptible to serious illness, you may decide to wear a well-fitting mask outdoors in crowded areas and during activities involving close contact with others ◆ Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol or often wash your hands with soap and water. ◆ Follow instructions for protecting both yourself and others, as well as any recommendations or requirements at your location.
